Position Information

Job Title Enrollment Specialist (Harrison County) Job Description

The Enrollment Specialist (Harrison County) works within Student Services and reports directly to the Director of Enrollment Services at the Harrison County Campus. This position serves prospective, new, and currently enrolled students at assigned MGCCC sites within Harrison County, including but not limited to Gulf Park Campus, Harrison County Campus, West Harrison Center, The Bryant Center at Tradition, and other assigned locations as needed.

The successful candidate will assist students with enrollment services processes that support student access, retention, persistence, and completion. Responsibilities include admissions support, financial aid navigation, registration assistance, advising support, orientation, documentation collection, partner communication, and other student success efforts. This position will also coordinate with USM Gulf Park administration and appropriate MGCCC departments to support course enrollment, schedule accuracy, student documentation, and related enrollment processes for students taking MGCCC courses connected to the Gulf Park Campus. The position requires strong communication, attention to detail, sound professional judgment, a clear understanding of FERPA, and the ability to collaborate effectively with college departments and external partners.

Job Duties

  • Support students with Enrollment Services processes including financial aid navigation, admissions, registration, and enrollment at assigned MGCCC sites within Harrison County, with a primary emphasis on Gulf Park Campus and other assigned sites.
  • Coordinate with USM Gulf Park administration, MGCCC Teaching and Learning, Enrollment Services, Admissions and Records, and other appropriate offices to support student enrollment, course placement, schedule accuracy, and related enrollment processes.
  • Facilitate coordinated enrollment processes, documentation collection, student follow-up, and record review to help ensure students are appropriately admitted, registered, and connected to the correct course sections.
  • Track student enrollment status, anticipated enrollment, course section needs, missing documentation, and related information to support planning and communication between MGCCC and USM Gulf Park.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with students, USM Gulf Park representatives, and appropriate MGCCC personnel regarding enrollment steps, schedule changes, course availability, and student support needs.
  • Provide advisement services and information related to programs of study, college offerings, university transfer options, and career pathways. Review and interpret high school and college transcripts as needed.
  • Advise students on matters related to class withdrawal, schedule adjustments, and college withdrawal procedures.
  • Provide individual and group enrollment support to current and prospective students related to academic performance, attendance, study habits, registration, and other enrollment concerns.
  • Guide students in the use of computerized career assessment tools and interpret results.
  • Refer students to personal counseling and other student support services as needed.
  • Support students with the use of college technology systems, including Student Web Services, Banner, and other platforms used for enrollment services.
  • Maintain accurate student records, documentation, and enrollment-related notes in accordance with FERPA, college policy, and established Enrollment Services procedures.
  • Remain informed of required forms and processes that pertain to veterans, vocational rehabilitation, WIOA, and other special populations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate orientation programs, recruitment activities, and retention efforts at assigned sites.
  • Represent the college and support enrollment-related activities at high school, community, USM Gulf Park, and other assigned events.
  • Respond to student questions, concerns, and difficult situations with professionalism, patience, and sound judgment.
  • Foster a positive, professional environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Participate in appropriate campus and college committees, meetings, and initiatives as appointed.
  • Attend appropriate conferences, workshops, and seminars to facilitate professional development.
  • Stay current concerning trends and policy changes related to higher education, including articulation agreements, transfer processes, and partner-based enrollment procedures.
  • Adhere to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Policy Handbook and support the college mission, values, and goals through professional service to students, employees, and community partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Services and/or Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management.

Mandatory Qualifications

(M1) Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Student Personnel, Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

(M2) Minimum of two (2) years of experience in areas such as educational advising, enrollment services, admissions, student services, employment counseling, customer service, records/documentation support, or a related area.

(M3) Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

(M4) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable Qualifications

(D1) Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

(D2) Work experience in a community college or higher education setting.

(D3) Experience using Ellucian Banner or other student information systems to support student records, registration, and enrollment documentation.

(D4) Experience supporting recruitment, orientation, retention, enrollment, or student success initiatives.
