Position Overview

Join us in the summer of 2026 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen. We are seeking organized and adaptable Ensemble Managers who embody our core values and are committed to nurturing young musicians. Ensemble Managers are the conduit between campers, faculty, and numerous staff, while being immersed in the unique environment that only a summer camp can offer. It is the responsibility of the Ensemble Manager to facilitate communication between campers, faculty, and conductors while making sure each rehearsal and concert runs smoothly. Ensemble Managers work with High School, Intermediate and Junior Ensembles.

What You Get To Do

  • Track attendance and oversee student issues within each assigned ensemble
  • Track rehearsal and performance locations, times, and set-ups on a daily basis and communicate this to campers, conductors and other staff
  • Determine and fulfill needs for special events and activities
  • Work closely with library staff, stage managers, program office, and instrument services personnel to facilitate music distribution, correct program information and instrument check out.
  • Communicate/coordinate with guest artists and conductors to address any rehearsal or performance concerns
  • Assist with coordinating sectionals with music faculty coordinators
  • Make daily decisions about student welfare, rehearsal issues, and the needs of the conductor to achieve the best possible outcomes
  • Respond to demands from conductors and effectively solve problems in a calm and organized manner.

  • Prepared to live in a residence hall with a roommate. While we offer accessible housing accommodations, please note that due to the rustic nature of our camp, these options are limited.
  • Must be enrolled in a music degree program, collegiate level or hold a degree(s) in music
  • Must also have experience in managing high school or college ensembles
