  • Job Overview

The Enterprise Architect is responsible for expanding enterprise architecture as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives. This role partners with business and IT stakeholders to understand the "how" and the "why" behind processes, capabilities, and technology needs, and translates those needs into clear, decision-grade architecture artifacts. The Enterprise Architect contributes to enterprise roadmaps, standards, and governance by producing current-state and target-state models (concept/system/owner and as built/system/owner), maintaining enterprise repositories (LeanIX and associated architecture libraries), and facilitating collaborative working sessions that improve alignment and delivery outcomes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to translate goals, processes, and capability needs into current-state and target-state architecture views
  • Contribute to the enterprise architecture roadmap by identifying dependencies, sequencing, and reusable patterns that reduce duplication and improve delivery speed
  • Create and maintain architecture models and artifacts in enterprise tooling (LeanIX, reference library, diagrams) to improve accuracy, completeness, and decision support
  • Assist with methods and procedures for tracking quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement opportunities across the application portfolio
  • Support feasibility studies and analysis (lifecycle, capacity, usage requirements) in coordination with domain architects and engineering teams
  • Partner with security and infrastructure stakeholders to ensure designs consider security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving requirements

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Support enterprise-level initiatives (new systems, upgrades, rollouts, and M&A) by documenting architecture, integration impacts, and transition states
  • Participate in vendor and solution evaluations by capturing requirements, mapping processes, documenting options and trade-offs, and assessing alignment to standards
  • Ensure solution proposals include required architecture artifacts and governance inputs for review and approval

Operational Management

  • Participate in architecture governance forums (e.g., ARB, design panels) by reviewing materials, facilitating working sessions as needed, documenting outcomes, and tracking follow-up actions
  • Help develop, socialize, and maintain enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns
  • Maintain and improve LeanIX and supporting architecture repositories as sources of truth, including data quality, completeness, and artifact linkage
  • Document the enterprise architecture environment to maintain an accurate view of current-state and target-state topography, including system connections and dependencies
  • Identify opportunities for reuse, migration, consolidation, or retirement of systems and integrations; communicate recommendations and impacts
  • Address enterprise problems related to systems integration, compatibility, and multi-platform integration by mapping interfaces, data flows, and ownership
  • Coordinate with delivery teams to ensure architecture decisions are understood and implemented; escalate risks and issues as needed
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of governance processes, templates, and documentation practices (including process mapping and decision records)
