Description

NexGen Data Systems is seeking a highly qualified Enterprise Architect to provide strategic technical leadership, architectural oversight, and governance for the Senior Information Security Officer (SISO) support contract at United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). The scope of this project is to provide a comprehensive range of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) implementation, enterprise-wide security modeling, and technology trade study support across the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE), supporting approximately 40 active combatant command systems.

The Enterprise Architect serves as the primary technical advisor for long-term architectural health and security posture. Responsibilities include managing the strategic alignment of command-level cyber investments, facilitating complex engineering reviews for planned solutions, and executing comprehensive Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) for enterprise-level security tools. The Enterprise Architect handles the definition of high-level security patterns, technology roadmaps, and the translation of federal mandates into deployable enterprise security models.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze planned and proposed engineering solutions to determine alignment with command-level Zero Trust goals, expected security outcomes, and enterprise integration requirements.
  • Conduct comparative research and formal Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) for ZT capabilities, including Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR), User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), and Extended Detection and Response (XDR).
  • Design enterprise-wide security patterns and Zero Trust control overlays within the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) to ensure unified compliance.
  • Lead engineering review boards for proposed technical alterations to ensure they do not degrade existing security postures.
  • Provide strategic advisory support to SISO leadership, translating complex federal executive orders and NIST SP 800-207 guidelines into actionable, cost-effective technology designs.
  • Comply with all DoD and USTRANSCOM cybersecurity regulations, physical/personnel security rules, and information protection policies.

Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

Requirements

Desired/Required Skills:

  • Active Department of Defense Secret level security clearance required (Must be eligible for Tier 5/TS-SCI).
  • Must satisfy DoD 8570.01-M / DoDM 8140.03 requirements for consideration.
  • Must hold an active, industry-recognized Enterprise Architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF, FEAC, or equivalent).
  • Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) Cyber 101 course completion required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or relevant technical field required.
  • Must have exactly 7 years of progressive experience in enterprise-level systems architecture and 5 years of specialized experience in cybersecurity engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Information Technology Acquisition process, milestones, and supporting the creation of technical Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) documentation.
  • Proven skills in technology trade study facilitation, enterprise policy interpretation, and cross-departmental technical consensus-building.
  • Desired: Deep knowledge of NIST SP 800-207 (Zero Trust) and its practical application within a military headquarters or command center environment.
  • Strong oral, written, and briefing communication skills, with extensive proficiency in modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Sparx Enterprise Architect).
