What a Day Looks Like
Your morning begins by scanning orchestration dashboards and pipeline health checks. A validation alert flags a mismatch—your automated data-quality suite catches it early. You dig in with advanced SQL and PL/SQL, tune a query against Oracle Database, and restore freshness SLAs. By midday, you’re pairing with Analytics and BI partners to translate evolving business requirements into scalable technical designs. In the afternoon, you refactor an ETL workflow—shifting a legacy step into an Informatica or Talend job—and set up lineage tracking so governance and audit teams see end-to-end traceability. You close the day with a pull request, CI/CD checks green, and a quick mentoring session to help a teammate optimize a Spark job.
What You’ll Build
- Robust enterprise ETL pipelines that move and transform data reliably at scale
- Complex SQL and PL/SQL logic optimized for performance on Oracle Database
- Cloud-ready data flows across Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Automated validation frameworks that enforce data-quality rules and checks
- Governance assets: metadata capture, lineage mapping, and access controls
- High-reliability pipelines with proactive monitoring and tuning
- Translation of analytics/BI requirements into production-grade solutions
- Modernized patterns leveraging new data technologies and platforms
- Team capability through technical guidance and mentoring
Tech You’ll Use
- SQL, PL/SQL; Oracle Database (advanced)
- ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, Fivetran, or OCI Data Integration
- Cloud services on Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Python and/or Shell scripting for tooling and automation
- Airflow (or similar) for orchestration and workflow management
- Spark/Hadoop for large-scale data processing
- Git with CI/CD pipelines for versioning and delivery
- Data modeling, including dimensional modeling techniques
What You Bring
- 4+ years in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or closely related roles
- Proven enterprise ETL and data-pipeline expertise
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL proficiency
- Deep Oracle Database experience
- Hands-on use of leading ETL tools (Informatica, Talend, Fivetran, OCI Data Integration, or similar)
- Cloud exposure across Oracle Cloud and/or AWS/Azure/GCP
- Python and/or Shell scripting capabilities
- Airflow (or equivalent) orchestration experience
- Spark/Hadoop familiarity for big data
- Strong data and dimensional modeling skills
- Comfort with Git and CI/CD practices
- Bachelor’s in CS, Data/Information Systems, or related; equivalent experience considered
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration
