Position Title: Entertainment Intern

Rate of Pay: $17.50 per hour

Position Purpose:

Assists the Entertainment Supervisor by performing a variety of administrative and general office duties in support of the Entertainment Department. This is a temporary seasonal position not to exceed 122 days.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with administrative aspects of the Entertainment program.
  • Develops and maintains a variety of department reports and spreadsheets.
  • Collaborates with the Entertainment department to create and manage a successful Community Entertainment program.
  • Assists with venue set up prior to the Fair.
  • Assists with daily coordination at various venues and stages under the management of the Department.
  • May perform other duties as directed, requested or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Google Docs and Sheets and Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel.
  • Possess good customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work prior to our annual fair.
  • Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as required by events and programs.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication.
  • Possess good teamwork skills, time management and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Must be flexible in order to meet the changing demands of the department.
  • Ability to follow rules and processes for consistency.
  • Must be friendly, helpful and able to effectively handle hectic situations.
  • Skilled at successfully handling and prioritizing multiple tasks

Preferences:

  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • In college or just graduated students who are interested in a career in Entertainment.
  • Previous internship and/or work experience in an Entertainment related field.

The noise level in the work environment is usually noisy, however louder noise levels may be experienced during outdoor events and when in larger event buildings. Employee must be able to tolerate loud noise.

OC Fair and Event Center

The 32nd District Agricultural Association, also known as the OC Fair & Event Center (OCFEC) is a state agency under jurisdiction of the California Department of Food & Agriculture. The governing authority is a nine-member Board of Directors.

OCFEC is located in Costa Mesa, California on 130 acres that include educational assets like Centennial Farm and Heroes Hall. With an annual budget of $50 + million, the organization produces a STEAM education event, Imaginology and the highly-anticipated OC Fair each year. The OC Fair is one of the top ten Fairs in the nation and top three in California. In addition to the annual OC Fair, promoters host over 150 year-round events on our beautiful grounds.

The organization employs approximately 100 full-time civil service employees and 250 part-time, temporary employees on a year-round basis. The organization also employs approximately 1,400 part-time staff members at fair time.
