Entry-Level CNC Lathe Technician Trainee

This apprenticeship is a hands-on path into CNC turning. You’ll learn to safely operate a CNC lathe, assist with setups, verify part quality, and document your work—supported by experienced machinists who care about precision, safety, and your growth.

Role Snapshot

• Operate CNC lathes to manufacture metal parts with close supervision.
• Load raw materials, initiate programs, monitor cycles, and stop machines as needed.
• Identify errors, tool wear, vibration, or surface defects and report them quickly.
• Perform beginner-level setup tasks: change tools, adjust offsets, assist with calibration.
• Learn Mazatrol basics and machine control operation.
• Inspect components using dial calipers, OD/ID micrometers, and gauges; verify against prints/specs.
• Record production counts and inspection outcomes; follow job sheets and work instructions.
• Clean and lubricate machines; maintain a neat, safe work area.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (bonus for trade school or machining program).
• No prior experience required; mechanical or manufacturing background is beneficial.
• Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, tolerances); ready to learn blueprint reading.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Prolonged standing with routine lifting of 10–50 lbs.
• Industrial setting featuring noise, oil/coolant, and metal chips.
• Shift-based work with potential overtime.
