Wright Technical Services is supporting a leading provider of advanced automation and robotic manufacturing solutions. This role is focused on the design, development, and commissioning of custom automated systems including robotic welding cells, tooling, and fully integrated production equipment used by manufacturers worldwide.
This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, working cross-functionally, and seeing complex automation systems come to life on the plant floor.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of control system tasks to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Design, program, debug, and validate PLC and HMI control systems
- Collaborate with robotics, mechanical, and HMI teams to ensure full system integration
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems during build, startup, and commissioning
- Support system run-offs, safety validation, and quality checks prior to shipment
- Maintain high equipment quality and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate technical issues, risks, and solutions with project managers and leadership
- Support on-site installation, startup, and customer acceptance activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
- OR Associate’s degree with relevant hands-on experience
- 1–2+ years of PLC programming experience in an industrial or automation environment
- Experience with PLC platforms (Rockwell preferred) and machine control systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Experience with HMI development, safety systems, and industrial communication networks
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and integrated systems
- Ability to manage priorities and execute tasks independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel as needed (up to 50%)
- Comfortable working in industrial environments (fork trucks, overhead cranes, etc.)
