    Looking to start your culinary career or grow your kitchen experience? We're hiring Cook 1 team members across multiple venues throughout Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a high-volume, professional kitchen environment while learning from experienced culinary leaders.

    What You'll Do

    As a Cook 1, you'll work under the direction of the Sous Chef to support daily kitchen operations while maintaining high standards for food quality, presentation, and safety.

    • Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, slice, peel, etc.)
    • Cook food using a variety of methods (grill, fry, bake, steam, braise, boil)
    • Ensure food is properly seasoned, garnished, and visually appealing
    • Follow standardized recipes and preparation methods
    • Taste food prior to service to ensure quality
    • Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation
    • Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
    • Assist with kitchen setup, service, and cleanup
    • Minimize waste through proper portioning and production levels
    • Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment

    What We're Looking For

    • Basic culinary knowledge or a strong desire to learn
    • Ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures
    • Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic
    • Commitment to cleanliness and food safety

    Requirements

    • Ability to speak, read, and write English
    • Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain)
    • 6 months of culinary experience OR equivalent culinary education/experience

    • Food Safety Certification
    • Six (6) months of culinary experience required or an equivalent combination of culinary education and experience
    • You will prepare multiple ingredients to be cooked to include washing, chopping, slicing, and peeling of fruits and vegetables.
    • Cook food to include baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, and boiling; provide meals that are cooked, tasty and visually appealing; taste foods before serving and provides garnishes for food plates.
    • Provide high quality, fresh food to guests using standardized recipes and methods of preparation.
    • Control the level of waste by proper production levels and converted portion guidelines.
    • You will store and label prepared and open food following the Choctaw Nation food safety guidelines
    • Practice proper food storage and follow suitable food serving temperatures.
    • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment by practicing proper housekeeping procedure cleaning while working.
    • Provide help with set-up, service, and clean-up of food production.
    • Rotate stock to ensure usage and disposal occur before the expiration date.
