Hardware Test Engineer - In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI)

Position Summary

The Hardware Test Engineer will support the In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) team by developing and executing test plans to validate infotainment hardware components and systems. This role is responsible for conducting hands-on testing, analyzing results, identifying issues, and providing technical recommendations to ensure components meet performance, reliability, and design requirements. The engineer will work closely with suppliers, design teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support the development and validation of infotainment technologies. Responsibilities include testing components such as audio systems, wireless charging systems, USB interfaces, touch controls, antennas, and other infotainment-related hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans, procedures, and specifications for infotainment hardware components and systems.
  • Set up and operate laboratory and vehicle-based test equipment to evaluate component performance and reliability.
  • Conduct validation testing to ensure components meet design, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Analyze test data, identify root causes of failures, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Document test activities and communicate findings through clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Support component maturation and verification testing across multiple configurations and vehicle platforms.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Verify testing accuracy, determine additional testing requirements, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with development schedules, test tracking, and technical documentation.
  • Support evaluation of emerging infotainment technologies and provide input on future hardware features and improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • 0-5 years of engineering, laboratory, product validation, or testing experience.

  • Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical testing methodologies.

  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and documenting test results.

  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical information through reports and presentations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive electronics, infotainment systems, or consumer electronics.
  • Familiarity with laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, data acquisition systems, or CAN communication tools.
  • Experience with hardware validation, component testing, reliability testing, or environmental testing.
  • Exposure to supplier collaboration, product development, or vehicle systems testing.
  • Knowledge of audio systems, wireless charging, USB technologies, antennas, RF systems, or vehicle electronics is a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raymond, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
