Job Description:

• The Engineer Design contractor position for Client Gas assists in the planning, design, and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects. The right candidate must be a self-starter, excellent communicator, critical thinker and able to make sound decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems. Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
• Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.
• Job responsibilities include creating a safe work environment by putting safety first, understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance.
• Understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance.
• Understanding design practices and work processes, using all software applications used in design.
• Understanding industry and client design standards, supporting design standard and criteria development for the system.
• Supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations, estimating material for projects, transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications.

Skillsets and expertise required for this position:

• Include introductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills.
• Limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor.
• Basic discipline software knowledge, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff.
• Design engineering staff and/or vendors.

As our Engineer in the design group, a typical day might include:

• Working on gas storage or gas fueling station assignments
• Performing assignments involving the design of components or functionality of pipeline products
• Involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Performing system balances to determine the best overall solution to solve system issues or identify system low points and methods to best solve them.
• Provide oversight and support for construction activities

What candidate will need to qualify for this position:

• BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or General)
• 1-3 years of progressive Engineering experience
• Or
• Equivalent academic education and experience

Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred : Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)

• Computer Assisted Design/Geographic Information System - basic proficiency
• MS Office - advanced proficiency
• CAD/GIS - intermediate proficiency.
