Job Description

The Environmental Engineering team at the Kesselring Site is seeking an entry-level engineer who is eager to learn, grow, and make an impact!

 

In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting a variety of radiological, environmental, safety, and health initiatives that ensure our site remains compliant with company standards as well as federal and state regulations. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation in environmental engineering within a highly regulated and safety-focused environment.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs that protect both personnel and facilities.
  • Participate in trend analysis, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections to evaluate processes, equipment, and workplace conditions.
  • Support efforts to improve operational procedures, equipment design, and workflows to reduce potential hazards.
  • Help create and maintain record?keeping systems that track and analyze personnel injury and illness data.
  • Contribute to employee training sessions, emergency preparedness activities, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Provide technical support by interpreting regulatory requirements and assisting with compliance strategies.
  • Stay up to date on environmental, safety, and health regulations and how they apply to site operations.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Prior internship/co-op experience in a related job field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay Range

$63,900.00 - $97,800.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
