This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Boeing-Wichita is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join their team in Wichita, KS. Industrial Engineers play a critical role in optimizing manufacturing systems that support the production of advanced aerostructures for Boeing and other aerospace partners. This role focuses on improving production efficiency, analyzing workflow and capacity, and implementing data-driven solutions that enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance. The Industrial Engineer collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to evaluate processes, balance production lines, and develop scalable solutions that support high-rate aerospace manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the enterprise.

Position Responsibilities:

The position will be primarily responsible for headcount and resource planning for Fabrication Operations. This includes planning for 1,800+ direct touch hourly employees, as well as several hundred indirect hourly, and management type employees. Reports and plans will be provided to 13 senior managers, 4 directors, and a VP for Fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and comparing demand
  • Monitoring and applying factors to demand around emergent issues and quality
  • Interfacing with senior leadership and executive leadership on headcount planning and efficiency planning

Tools and Skills:

  • Proficient in Access, Excel, SAP, etc.
  • Advanced level Excel skills strongly preferred, including modeling and forecasting abilities
  • Modeling requirements to include existing dependent demand from SAP, as well as potential independent demand from various outside sources

Role Support:

The role will support the demand management team and decision support for the Fabrication Organization.

Work Requirements:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at our Wichita, KS site.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of IE Tools used in production, including capacity analysis, facility layout, and production improvements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an Aircraft or Aerospace Manufacturing environment
  • Finance experience

Pay:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary Pay Range: $59,800 - $91,650
