Entry Level: Lab Technician, Swing Shift
Term: 6-Month Contract Assignment

Pay rate: $21.41 - $22.41/hr, paid weekly
Schedule: Full-Time | Swing Shift Structure | 8-hour shifts with built-in 12-hour shifts to support a 24/7/365 workday operation. Good attendance and punctuality are preferred.
Shift Details: This role functions as a relief swing that covers regular shift days off, working a combination of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts during the workweek. It follows a 4-week repeating pattern with a general rotation of 7 days on / 2 days off, 7 days on / 2 days off, and 6 days on / 4 days off.
The entry-level Swing Shift Lab Technician position is designed to train the new technician on one of the four analytical aisles in the Quality Control laboratory. In this role, the technician will prepare process and finished product samples, perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures, and record results using computerized data systems. This position offers a direct path for advancement, requiring the technician to complete training and certification on one aisle prior to transitioning to a Laboratory Technician I position.
Key Responsibilities
Analytical Testing: Prepare process and finished product samples using standard laboratory protocols. Perform analytical testing utilizing both instrumental and wet chemistry procedures.
Data Management: Record all testing results accurately and efficiently using computerized data systems.
Safety & Audits: Complete full plant and laboratory safety orientations. Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by complying with all department and plant safety policies. Perform at least one Laboratory Safety audit and complete a minimum of 3 safety engagements each month.
Hazard Response: React immediately to eliminate hazards, unsafe equipment, or unsafe acts, and ensure all accidents, injuries, and near-misses are reported immediately to area supervision.
Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate a strong ability to accept instruction, coaching, and constructive criticism as essential tools for continuous improvement.
Must Have Skills / Requirements
Flexibility & Adaptability: Absolute willingness and capability to work a highly rotating swing schedule combining 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including some built-in 12-hour days.
Mathematical Foundations: High school level math skills with the ability to perform calculations associated with routine laboratory testing.
Technical Skills: Foundational computer skills for data entry and system navigation (computer skills are preferred).
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Prior laboratory testing experience or completion of a college science lab (experience in lieu of college lab work will be considered on a case-by-case basis).
A solid understanding of a laboratory environment and a working knowledge of cGMP, FDA, and other regulatory requirements.
Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), and Ion Chromatography (IC).
Training & Certification Timeline
New technicians are certified in their assigned area around 60–90 days from the time they begin working an analytical aisle independently.
Laboratory Technician III team members and Quality Supervision will observe performance on required tests to ensure proper training benchmarks are met prior to formal sign-off.
Education & Experience
Experience: No previous professional laboratory experience is strictly required.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. College-level science coursework or lab completion preferred.
