What You’ll Do
As a Residential HVAC Service Technician, you will:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential heating and cooling systems.
- Perform seasonal preventative maintenance on furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, and IAQ equipment.
- Accurately diagnose electrical, refrigeration, airflow, and mechanical issues.
- Explain repair options and recommendations to homeowners in a professional, easy-to-understand manner.
- Perform equipment startups and operational testing.
- Verify refrigerant charge using proper superheat, subcooling, and airflow procedures.
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, motors, capacitors, contactors, relays, pressure switches, gas valves, ignitors, and thermostats.
- Repair refrigerant leaks and perform proper evacuation and charging procedures.
- Maintain detailed service reports and documentation using company software.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked company vehicle.
- Follow all company safety procedures and EPA regulations.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and manufacturer education.
- Work with installation teams when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Build long-term relationships with homeowners through honest recommendations and exceptional service.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 1 year of residential HVAC experience preferred (service or installation).
- EPA Universal Certification (or ability to obtain quickly).
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while remaining a team player.
- Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to use smartphones and tablets for work orders and documentation.
Preferred
- 2–5 years of residential HVAC service experience.
- Experience with gas furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, zoning systems, and indoor air quality products.
- NATE Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with Lennox equipment is a plus.
- Knowledge of airflow diagnostics and static pressure testing.
- Sales and customer education experience.
