Job Title: Entry Phlebotomist I / Lobby Experience Coordinator Position Type: Contract – 06 Months End Date: February 27, 2027 Location: Winston-Salem, NC 27103 Hours: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Monday – Friday | 20 Hrs/Week
Job Summary:
We are seeking an ENTRY Phlebotomist I / Lobby Experience Coordinator (LEC) to support patients throughout their visit and provide an exceptional front-lobby experience. This is primarily a patient-facing lobby greeter and check-in position, with opportunities to utilize and further develop basic phlebotomy skills.
The ideal candidate will provide patients with a warm, professional, and compassionate experience from the moment they arrive. Responsibilities include greeting patients, assisting with check-in using a self-service kiosk or handheld tablet, answering questions, maintaining the waiting area, and helping patients feel comfortable while they wait for their laboratory services.
The individual will also provide phlebotomy coverage during staff breaks and staffing shortages, performing specimen collection and processing duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients upon arrival and provide a friendly, professional, and compassionate experience.
Assist patients with check-in using self-service kiosks or handheld tablets.
Answer patient questions and provide clear information regarding their scheduled procedures.
Help create an atmosphere of trust, comfort, and confidence for patients.
Maintain the integrity, cleanliness, and organization of the lobby and waiting area.
Monitor patients in the waiting area and assist with their needs while they wait.
Provide coverage in the draw room when other phlebotomists are on break or during staffing shortages.
Perform basic phlebotomy and specimen collection duties within established procedures.
Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing as required.
Follow established safety, quality, confidentiality, and patient identification procedures.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Protect the confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
Demonstrate strong customer service skills and maintain a positive image with patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Demonstrate willingness to learn new skills and grow within the organization.
Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent – REQUIRED.
1–2 years of client-facing customer service experience REQUIRED, such as:
Retail
Home Health Aide
Healthcare/Patient Services
Customer Service
Other direct patient or customer-facing environments
Some phlebotomy experience REQUIRED, including internship, externship, or entry-level training.
Basic understanding of phlebotomy and specimen collection.
Keyboard and data-entry experience REQUIRED.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact with patients with care, compassion, and professionalism.
Ability to work effectively in both a lobby/check-in environment and draw room.
Ability and willingness to learn additional phlebotomy and laboratory-related skills.
