As a Machinist, you will set up and operate CNC machinery, inspect precision parts, troubleshoot basic machining issues, and help maintain the high quality standards behind Smithey's American-made cookware.

Three shifts available:
1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
3rd Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a machining, manufacturing technology, or skilled trades vocational program, such as DCCTC or a similar program
1-4 years of experience operating CNC or manual machining equipment in a production, job shop, or vocational training environment
Proficiency in CNC machine operation, setup, and basic troubleshooting
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, technical drawings, tolerances, and specifications
Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with a production team
Clear communication skills and ability to identify and report issues promptly
Reliable, self-directed, safety-conscious approach to work
OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for precision machining and inspection
Ability to tolerate variable temperatures
Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and participate in skills development
NIMS certification preferred
Hands-on experience with lathes, mills, or CNC equipment through coursework or training preferred
Some scheduling flexibility may be required during peak production periods
What You'll Do as a CNC Machinist:
Set up, operate, and adjust CNC turning centers and related machinery with minimal supervision
Troubleshoot basic machine and production issues
Read blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to understand specifications and tolerances
Follow established production sequences to meet daily output and quality targets
Perform in-process quality checks using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments
Inspect finished parts for dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements
Identify non-conforming parts and promptly report quality issues to appropriate team members
Accurately document inspection results and production data
Conduct routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance after production runs
Follow shop safety procedures and PPE requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Report equipment problems and safety concerns promptly
Work collaboratively with the manufacturing team to meet production goals
Participate in training, coaching, and skills development activities
Contribute ideas that improve workflow, quality, and production efficiency
Take ownership of assigned work while maintaining Smithey Ironware Company's standards for precision and craftsmanship
