    Description

    SUMMARY:

    The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist drives initiatives that builds a culture of continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and an environment that result in fewer lost days, unexpected call outs due to injury, and overall reduction in worker's compensation claims for two facilities in Jacksonville, FL , Armor and Duty Gear. Reporting into the Director, Operations, the role owns regulatory compliance, advocating for root cause, and deploying process and working condition improvements that cultivate a best-in-class manufacturing environment.

    Roles & Responsiblities:General Responsibilities:

    Develop and maintain an inspection and audit protocol to evaluate and maintain complianceImplement and maintain programs in support of regulations and company policies and proceduresImplement and maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 EHS management systems as applicableImplement and maintain continuous improvement programsMaintain all required safety and environmental operating permits

    Environmental Controls & Material Handling:

    Develop and implement; lockout/tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding, fire safety, housekeeping, walking working surfaces and other general industry safety programsDevelop and maintain Power industrial trucks, manlifts and rack safety programsLead compliance with storm water regulations, maintain spill prevention and control plans, oversee inspections and records

    Health and Safety:

    Serve as safety program coordinator, lead site communication and training related to safety and crisisReduce lost days by leading risk assessments and processes that improve the work environmentLead incident investigation to analyze, identify prevention, deploy counter measures and trainingMaintain written PPE program and oversee compliance with program, including incentivesReduce worker's compensation claims by developing initiatives to improve safety, hearing, ergonomic conditions

    Chemical Management, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management:

    Oversee characterization, labeling and storage of non-hazardous and hazard waste streamsCoordinate training and inspection programs to ensure compliance with policiesEnsure manifest files and records are maintained to regulatory requirementsMaintain and post current chemical inventory lists on the document management website

    Record Keeping:

    Utilize and support information and policies on the document management websiteMaintain status of EHS tasks on the task management websiteWork with HR to collect data to maintain OSHA Logs and manage WC claims, upload and manage to claim websiteAnalyze injury data and routinely update TCIR and LWIR and maintain information on the OSHA 300 log website

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field OR the equivalent combination of education and experience5-7 years' experience in Safety and Environmental Management in a manufacturing facilityWorking knowledge of Safety and Environmental Regulations, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systemsASP, CSP, CHMM or other industry accepted certification programs are desirableProficient with MS Software and Internet based researchSpanish Speaking (Professional Capabilities) a strong plus

    Manage active Worker's Compensation CasesLead Injury InvestigationsManage existing Management of ChangeLead equipment annual certifications and inspections and evaluate industrial hygiene factorsWaste monitoring and new waste: General process review and new waste for MOC processesManage Workplace Ergonomics programGeneral facility Support: Maintain and lead EHS boards, meetings, and general supportOwn EHS training programsSupport testing and deployment of EHS Management System ApplicationSupport testing and deployment of EHS Management System Application under pilot in Mexico
