  • Coordinate closely with internal ecology and cultural resources teams to support planning, logistics, and execution of field surveys.
  • Review environmental summary reports for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with established internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Consolidate project information into comprehensive, DOE‑ready environmental summary packages that clearly present findings and compliance status.
  • Develop clear project descriptions and summary maps that outline the total project scope and key environmental considerations.
  • Create, manage, and update GIS, KMZ, and Google Earth files to support environmental reporting, mapping, and visualization needs.
  • Track consultant deliverables, field survey timelines, construction start dates, and costs associated with environmental surveys and reporting.
  • Review and validate consultant invoices against awarded scopes of work to ensure accuracy and proper alignment with contracted services.
  • Upload final environmental deliverables to internal systems to facilitate timely transfer of documentation to DOE and other stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing status updates to DOE and internal teams on environmental review progress, key milestones, and any emerging issues.
  • Support environmental permitting activities related to water permitting and other regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance is integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Utilize Excel to track data, monitor timelines, manage budgets, and generate reports that summarize environmental review activities.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and funding programs to help guide project compliance strategies.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or related environmental project management functions
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and permitting processes, including familiarity with the Clean Water Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Endangered Species Act, FEMA floodplains, and farmland protection requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability with Google Earth mapping and GIS tools, including creation and management of KMZ and Google Earth files.
  • Proficiency with Excel for tracking, reporting, and data management related to environmental deliverables, timelines, and costs.
  • Experience reviewing or supporting NEPA or NEPA‑like environmental documentation, with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory guidance.
  • Ability to manage environmental consultants, coordinate deliverables, and track progress against scopes of work and schedules.
  • Experience with field surveys in one or more areas such as ecological resources, wetlands, endangered species, or cultural resources.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Forestry, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for consolidating project information into complete, compliant environmental packages.
  • Effective communication skills for providing clear updates to internal teams, DOE contacts, and consultants.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • NEPA experience is preferred but not required, including familiarity with the preparation or review of NEPA‑like documentation.
  • Experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting processes is considered relevant and beneficial.
  • Prior experience managing environmental consultants and tracking deliverables is preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal funding programs tied to environmental compliance and how they influence project requirements.
  • Background in natural resources such as forestry, ecology, or environmental science is strongly preferred.
