The Environmental Assistant Staff Project Manager supports environmental consulting projects through fieldwork, data collection, reporting, and coordination activities. This role bridges the gap between entry-level and staff-level responsibilities by contributing more directly to project execution, developing project management skills, and increasing client interaction. The Environmental Assistant Staff Project Manager demonstrates growing technical and project competency while supporting project teams and demonstrating ECS Core Values.
Responsibilities
Supports groundwater, soil, and environmental sampling investigations
Assists with project setup and execution
Applies understanding of sampling procedures, preservation, and lab submission
Communicates field observations and implements changes as directed
Assists with remediation system installation, operation, and monitoring
Supports underground storage tank (UST) assessments
Interacts and collaborates with project teams across multiple environmental projects
Attends project meetings and contributes to project discussions
Interfaces daily with contractors, clients, and site personnel
Communicates changing site conditions and project needs to supervisors
Assists with scheduling, training, and oversight of environmental technicians
Prioritizes tasks with guidance to meet project deadlines
Prepares portions of reports and deliverables, including tables, figures, and research sections
Assists with preparation of proposals for training and development purposes
Supports project coordination, tracking, and execution activities
Performs field work and data collection activities as assigned
Assists with project setup and implementation under supervision
Performs additional technical and project support duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
1 year of related experience
Bachelor's and/or Master's of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting
If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.
Basic knowledge of environmental principles, regulations, and test methods
Basic understanding of permitting processes and environmental standards
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work
Developing project management and consulting skills
Ability to work independently with guidance and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and organization
Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying site conditions
Ability to lift and carry field equipment (~40 lbs)
Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and Company policies
