Job Summary:
We are seeking Environmental Compliance Specialists to support environmental planning and regulatory compliance for construction and long-term environmental projects throughout Florida. The role focuses on permitting, compliance inspections, environmental regulations, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Support environmental compliance and permitting activities for construction and operational projects.
Conduct environmental compliance inspections and follow-up assessments.
Develop corrective action plans and Plans of Action & Milestones (POAMs).
Track findings, document corrective actions, and maintain compliance records.
Prepare environmental permits, plans, and required documentation.
Coordinate with contractors, government agencies, and project stakeholders.
Present compliance updates during project meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental compliance and permitting.
Knowledge of EPA regulations (40 CFR), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, and Florida environmental regulations.
Experience conducting compliance inspections and managing corrective actions.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrate basic understanding and knowledge of the Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Federal regulation
Other Environmental regulations including, but not limited to Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, etc.
State of Florida Environmental regulations and permitting requirements for new operations and construction
Ability to communicate with multiple levels of organization (floor/shop-level, supervisors, customers, senior leadership, etc.).
Experience with identifying environmental requirements and preparing associated required permits, plans, etc.
Conduct compliance inspections for environmental compliance; conducting follow-up, developing corrective actions plans and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs), tracking findings/corrective actions, documenting closure of findings with objective evidence (photos, updated documents, etc), and updating tracking/management systems.
Ability to assist with large project management: Organization, Planning input; Subject matter expert input; Coordination with project specific contractors; Coordination with government environmental media managers; Overall participation in the completion of such projects
Preferred Qualifications:
40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
Experience supporting construction or environmental compliance projects.
