Environmental Construction Program Manager Role

AWS Environmental is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on by supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep the cloud running. We tackle the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we"re looking for talented individuals who want to help.

You will:

  • Partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies for the construction and operation of AWS data centers and infrastructure.
  • Provide environmental technical assistance and risk management support to Regional Environmental Engineers, Construction Managers, and other internal partners
  • Promote and manage environmental compliance during construction, focusing on protection of sensitive environmental resources, wetland permit compliance, and construction stormwater NPDES permit compliance (including erosion and sediment control)
  • Prepare for data center operations with Regional Environmental Engineers
  • Engage regularly throughout the construction phase with multiple AWS stakeholders, including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Water, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors

Key job responsibilities

  • Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop mitigation and strategies to support site-specific project delivery.
  • Manage environmental compliance during construction, specifically focusing on wetlands permits, protected species requirements, and erosion and sediment control.
  • Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.
  • Coordinate with partner teams including Construction, Design, Water, Legal, Real Estate, Power, and others to manage construction and operational constraints.
  • Develop site development strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines.
  • Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations.
  • Develop, manage, and track metrics to evaluate program performance.

The AWS Environmental Team in AMER manages the environmental requirements during data center and infrastructure development in the Americas. The Environmental Construction Program Manager will be a key member of the AMER Environmental team managing environmental compliance primarily during the construction phase of development.
