Description

Title: Environmental Engineer  
Location: Cartersville, GA

SUMMARY

We are currently seeking an Environmental Engineer to work at our Cartersville, GA facility. This position is responsible for supporting Qcells in achieving compliance with federal and state environmental and safety regulations, and internal Qcells EHS policies. The Environmental Engineer collaborates with the plant on air, water, and waste projects, ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications, and 3rd party audits. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to be part of a new plant design, build, and startup in Cartersville, GA. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing air emissions, wastewater discharge, and solid/hazardous waste management; resolve environmental issues related to water, air, and waste regulations as they arise.
  • Develop air emission estimates for industrial processes and related operations, and prepare air, water, and waste permit applications.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SWPPP and SPCC Plans; prepare Tier II Emergency and Hazardous Chemical Inventory reports and TRI (Toxic Release Inventory) reports.
  • Generate, prepare, and draft environmental reports, including engineering calculations and supporting documentation necessary for regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct inspections of plant facilities to assess operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations across air, water, and waste programs.
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing environmental treatment systems to minimize environmental impacts.
  • Assess potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans; lead or participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the plant's environmental inquiries, inspections, and audits; prepare responses to inspections/audits and oversee the correction of any identified deficiencies.
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and complete projects within budget.
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with federal, state, and local plant municipalities on environmental compliance matters, and collaborate with plant personnel and other specialists to address environmental challenges.
  • Develop and deliver environmental compliance training sessions, and champion a sustainable culture of excellence by fostering commitment and engaging employees.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes in environmental regulations and compliance, and proactively assess their impact on facility operations.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Science.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance work.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Proficiency in generating, preparing, and writing environmental compliance reports.
  • Experience in preparing environmental reports and plans, including Air, SARA Tier II/TRI reports, Wastewater reports, and SWPP/SPCC plans.
  • Ability to perform air emission calculations and interpret environmental regulations to assist industrial plants with compliance.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage/support multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Presentation and training experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
