About the Position
This non-state service, time-limited position will be responsible for tasks associated with permitting and compliance/enforcement in the Construction Stormwater Branch of the Land Disturbance Division. Tasks include review of Construction Stormwater Notices of Intent and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans to determine if these documents meet requirements defined by State and Federal regulations. Tasks also include issuance of Construction Stormwater general permit coverages once reviewed and approved, and after all associated documents have been entered into MDEQs database. This position is also responsible for compliance and enforcement activities for assigned facilities including, but not limited to, conducting inspections, writing inspection reports, handling informal enforcement actions, and managing the resolution of citizen complaints.

The applicant should have good organizational and computer skills, be able to prioritize workload, have good written and verbal communication skills. A successful candidate will be someone who is efficient, responsive, can multi-task, and can operate within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in engineering, preferably with courses in environmental engineering and possession of a certificate of registration as an Engineer in Training from the Mississippi State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Hiring agency prefers: A Bachelors Degree in an engineering curriculum from a school or college approved by the Mississippi State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as of satisfactory standing, preferably with courses in environmental engineering; OR A Masters Degree in an engineering curriculum from a school or college wherein that same engineering curriculum at the undergraduate level is approved by the Mississippi State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as of satisfactory standing, preferably with courses in environmental engineering; AND A Bachelors Degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related science curriculum of four (4) scholastic years from a school or college other than those approved by the Mississippi State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, preferably with courses in environmental engineering.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
