Job TitleEnvironmental Engineer – Project Technical LeaderJob LocationNorth Carolina – WilmingtonJob DescriptionThe Project Technical Leader (PTL) role focuses on key areas of technical delivery within the Global Delivery Excellence Framework (GDEF). The PTL develops and drives the technical vision of the project working closely with the Project Manager (PM), reporting directly to the PM.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the technical content of both design and non-design projects, applying preemptive, preventive and proactive approaches to mitigate circle backs.Design water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, and other infrastructure projects of basic to high complexity to meet client requirements.Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations; sign off on completed designs and ensure firm policies are followed.Conduct site reviews and studies, ensuring designs align with location specifications; update requirements as necessary.Contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation; submit papers for publication in technical journals.Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client RFPs; review draft proposals for regulatory and best‑practice compliance.Meet with current and prospective clients to review design needs; attend conferences and symposia to enhance the firm's visibility.Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor and develop junior engineers, potentially supervising their work.Perform other duties as required.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.Professional Engineer (PE) license.10 years of related experience.Domestic and/or international travel may be required (amount of travel required: 15%).Skills and AbilitiesExpert knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3‑D and 4‑D software.Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.Visa SponsorshipNo – sponsorship for H‑1B or TN visas will not be supported.EEO StatementCDM Smith is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
