Our client in the Inland Northwest location is currently hiring for an Environmental Engineer. This is a permanent opportunity supporting environmental engineering and remediation projects for public and private clients. The position is primarily office-based with occasional site visits and offers long-term stability as part of a succession plan tied to an upcoming retirement.
Pay - $83,000 - $125,000 (Depending on years of experience, tenure, software proficiency, and relevance of prior project work)
Location - Inland Northwest
Schedule - Standard Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Conduct and lead environmental field investigations and site characterization activities
- Perform subsurface explorations including test borings, geoprobes, and monitoring well installation
- Perform soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling in accordance with industry standards
- Evaluate and interpret environmental data to support engineering and scientific analyses
- Prepare design documents including engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and engineers' estimates
- Generate and draft technical reports, figures, and tables
- Provide on-site monitoring and engineering observation of contractor activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
- Document site remediation activities and maintain accurate field notes and logs
- Assist with or manage Underground Storage Tank (UST) removal and remediation projects
- Support development of technical scopes of work and cost estimates for proposals
- Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and technical staff on environmental and geotechnical projects
- Follow all company and client health and safety protocols, including participation in daily tailgate safety meetings
Qualification Requirements
- 4-10 years of related experience, preferably including Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field
- E.I.T., F.E., or P.E. certification, or willingness to apply for initial professional certification
- Experience with environmental assessment, remediation, monitoring, and compliance
- Hands-on experience with soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling
- Knowledge of subsurface exploration methods and geology principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with AutoCAD
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license
Disqualifiers
- Less than 4 years of relevant environmental engineering or environmental science experience
- No field-based environmental investigation or sampling experience
- No exposure to remediation or site characterization projects
- Inability to perform required field duties
