Environmental Engineering Intern

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

The Novelis Environmental team, located in Bay Minette, AL, is seeking a EHS Environmental Intern. This role is responsible for assisting the Environmental team in implementing and maintaining programs that ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company sustainability goals. This role provides hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, data analysis, and project support within an industrial setting.

 

Responsibilities:

· Support environmental compliance programs related to air, water, and waste management.

· Assist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting environmental data (e.g., emissions, wastewater, hazardous waste).

· Assist in collecting routine samples across the facility.

· Participate in environmental audits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.

· Help develop and update environmental procedures, training materials, and documentation.

· Contribute to sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency and waste reduction projects.

· Research environmental regulations and best practices to support continuous improvement.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams on environmental projects and corrective actions.

 

Minimum qualifications:

· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science related field.

· Basic knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, state/local requirements).

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

 

Preferred qualifications:

· Familiarity with environmental regulations.

· Experience with data analysis.

· Knowledge of environmental science concepts

· Skilled in report writing.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Location Profile:

Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
