Environmental Field Technician

This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join the team in our Merrimack, NH office, supporting a diverse portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects. The successful candidate will support various environmental sampling activities at public and private sector environmental projects primarily in the northeast.

Your Impact

• With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
• Review, integrate, collect data, and perform quality control from environmental regulatory, and other databases.
• Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements and statistical analysis of environmental data.
• Assists with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on various environmental issues.
• Write technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and software.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but is not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, laboratory documentation, written procedures, and field/work site logbooks.
• Assist technical staff and project managers with environmental risk identification and assessment, offering input and analysis with low-level threat mitigation activities and remediation projects.
• Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
• Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field work permitting.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 0-1 year of relevant experience.
• Ability to work safely in varied outdoor environments and weather conditions.
• Interest in fieldwork and willingness to travel for extended field campaigns.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and work effectively in team settings.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn software.
• Ability to accurately record, organize, and manage field data.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to lift, carry, and set up field equipment.
• Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem solving ability.
• Willingness to comply with site specific safety requirements.
• Adaptability to new tools, workflows, and procedures.

• Ability to work schedule is conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous fieldwork or laboratory experience.
