Environmental Health and Safety Assistant

Position OverviewTo protect the health and safety of all staff, Scouts and guests by ensuring a safe environment and promoting a culture of preparedness and prevention.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Health and Safety Manager in daily operationsIdentify and mitigate hazardous conditions with participants, staff, roadways, and any other SBR assetsAttend operational meetings related to health and safetyProvide communication and coordination between programs and operationsAssist with inspections and audits for federal, state, local and camp regulatory complianceSupport the Health lodge with check-in operationsModel the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions while maintaining Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work areaPerform additional duties assigned by SBR leadershipAbide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbookQualificationsMinimum age: 18+Basic understanding of regulatory compliance Minimum 2 years of leadership or camp experience (Summit experience preferred)Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Summit UTV and vehicle permit andProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and TeamsWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Physical & Practical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and hike up to 4 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelinesHousing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55Desired TraitsHigh emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focusAdaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skillsAbility to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgroundsComfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
