Job Description

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist supports, develops, communicates, trains, drives, manages, audits, improves, and measures EHS performance across a dynamic operational portfolio. This role focuses on developing and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes, driving understanding and engagement to improve EHS performance, influencing business unit leadership, and integrating EHS into daily operations. The EHS Specialist is accountable for supporting the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards in alignment with global EHS policies, while building strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve best-in-class compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of EHS compliance programs in alignment with global EHS policies and standards.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement EHS compliance and risk management processes that integrate into daily operations.
  • Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational disease and industrial health hazards.
  • Promote EHS awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communication and participation.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues, providing guidance and support to stakeholders.
  • Support regulated waste management activities, including consolidation and inspections.
  • Perform compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.
  • Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly and effectively.
  • Perform job hazard analyses and other risk assessments for new processes and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly EHS metrics for onsite management teams and corporate reporting systems.
  • Support management efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate program expectations and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomic improvements.
  • Establish and manage the safety committee to drive engagement and accountability for EHS performance.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives to reduce site safety and environmental risk.
  • Support site stand-up meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections to reinforce EHS standards and behaviors.
  • Contribute to EHS support for innovative operations, including low Earth orbit satellite system activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues related to EHS.
  • Work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, as required by operational needs.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in environmental health and safety support, including at least 1 year of EHS experience, preferably in warehousing or manufacturing plant environments.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses for processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
  • Ability to conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational disease and industrial health hazards.
  • Experience promoting EHS awareness through effective communication and employee participation.
  • Capability to support regulated waste management, including consolidation and inspections.
  • Experience performing compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.
  • Proficiency in executing compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans, and implement corrective measures effectively.
  • Experience maintaining accurate EHS metrics and reporting to management and corporate systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues.
  • Willingness and ability to work any shift, including days, nights, and weekends.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in EHS support within warehousing operations.
  • Experience in manufacturing plant environments and associated EHS requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and influence business unit leadership.
  • Ability to establish and manage safety committees and lead EHS-related meetings.
  • Experience driving continual improvement efforts to reduce safety and environmental risk.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing audits, inspections, and reporting.
  • Interest in supporting innovative operations, including activities related to low Earth orbit satellite systems.

Work Environment

This role is based in a facility located in Kirkland and involves working a back-half schedule from Wednesday through Saturday, with four 10-hour shifts from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The work environment is operational and hands-on, requiring the ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours and to lift up to 49 pounds as part of routine activities. The position supports warehousing and manufacturing-related operations, including advanced technology initiatives such as low Earth orbit satellite systems. The environment includes regular floor inspections, site stand-up meetings, and safety committee activities, with a strong emphasis on compliance, safety culture, and continuous improvement. Flexible shift availability, including days, nights, and weekends, may be required to meet business and operational needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Kirkland, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
