Environmental Health Manager II

JOB SUMMARY:

Works independently and with apiary inspection program manager to coordinate activities of the Clemson Plant Industry Yellow-legged hornet (YLH) response program by managing staff, contractors, and other workers in the completion of the program goals. Safeguards natural resources through regulatory enforcement, investigations, and education. Provides significant input on survey scheduling and other response priorities. Identifies and assigns priority survey areas for staff and contractors. Conducts survey in forested and residential areas to identify hornet populations and find potential nest locations using field tools such as binoculars, GPS, radio trackers, and tablets. Ensures captured data is accurate. Uses and supervises the use of ArcGIS mobile data collection applications. Coordinates YLH nest treatments, removal operations, transportation, and storage/disposal. Builds strong working relationships with various stakeholders to facilitate information sharing and compliance with response activities. Assists in early detection and rapid response to plant pest infestations that may cause substantial economic damage to South Carolina. Seeks relevant training and ongoing education opportunities to stay current in the field of plant pest and pollinator pest prevention and management. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

Expected Salary Range

$55,000 - $65,000

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
