Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) / Fire Safety CoordinatorWe are excited to share that The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking a dynamic, proactive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Professional to join our team as the Fire Safety Coordinator for the EHS Fire & Life Safety Unit.In this vital role, you will help protect Niner Nation by administering campus-wide programs that ensure a safe, teaching, living, learning, and working environment for our faculty, staff, and students. You won't just be enforcing rules—you will be an educator and a partner to the university community.Why This Role MattersAs our EHS Fire Safety Coordinator , you will be the go-to expert who:Consultative Services: Provide consultative safety services and act as a key responder to EHS service requests and campus emergency incidents.Risk Management: Proactively assess, inspect, investigate and correct unsafe conditions across campus infrastructure.Education & Training: Engage with faculty, staff, and students to develop and deliver EHS education and training programs.Campus Preparedness: Administer and monitor building evacuation plans, event safety plans, campus permitting, building fire safety pre-plans, fire protection systems, AED, and campus fire drills.Manage Key Safety Programs: In collaboration with the Fire & Life Safety team, administer campuswide safety programs, including Emergency Preparedness/Building Evacuation Plans, Fire Prevention, Hot Work, Event Safety, Aerial/Forklift safety, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).Compliance: Interprets federal, state, and local safety codes (including OSHA, NFPA, and NCFC) and provides user-friendly, consultative guidance to university leadership, stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory agencies.Continuous Improvement: Maintain meticulous records of inspections, incidents, and compliance metrics. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceIt is preferred that the applicant has 1-3 years of environmental health, safety, or fire experience. Experience working in a university, college, or public sector environment.
