    Job Description

    The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager plays a key role in providing direction and guidance to the South Clusterplant and associated quarries.  This position ensures that the plant and quarries are in full compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements with their operations, including permit conditions.  The EHS Manager is expected to create an environment that promotes communication and collaboration around safety across all departments, while empowering front-line ownership of decision-making and compliance. 

     

    The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate an aptitude for authentic leadership, building positive relationships, and a willingness to go above and beyond in order to foster a safety focused culture.  This role requires a passion for safety, customer service, and effectively coaching teams to be focused on Omya’s values and lifesaving rules. 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Direct and develop overall planning and assist engineering in the installation of equipment or modifications of equipment relating to EHS. 
    • Develop, acquire, and manage new environmentalpermit applications required for plant and quarries expansions. 
    • Manage SPCC, and SWPP, and BMP plans.  
    • Must have experience with EPA regulations including but not limited to CWA and CAA, ideally subpart OOO 
    • Develops and delivers EHS training to all personnel as required by Federal and State regulations and by company standards and procedures. 
    • Perform training to all employees on EHS programs including but not limited to MSHA Part 46, Fall Protection, Confined Space etc. 
    • Remain current on all federal, state, and local environmental permit/regulatory requirements, working with other departments to ensure full compliance. 
    • Complete and submit all regulatory forms and reports in an accurate and timely manner to be 100% compliant to local, state, and federal laws, including but not limited to Tier 2, PPP, GHG Title V, etc. 
    • Serve as the Radiation Safety Officer and manage Radiation Protection Program. 
    • Provide a communication interface with Federal and State regulators, including but not limited to Department of Natural Resources, MSHA and other agencies. 
    • In collaboration with key stakeholders, drive towards a world–class employee safety culture by implementing safety systems, policies and procedures, safety campaigns, and programs by improving employee safe behaviors and eliminating, preventing or controlling hazards/unsafe conditions. 
    • Drives incident prevention strategies and evaluates, educates and responds to predictive behaviors. 
    • Promote leading indicator reporting. 
    • Experience with Behavioral Based Safety programs. 
    • Serve as the technical expert and support implementation of the corporate EHS systems necessary to compliance activities and the tracking/reporting of EHS performance metrics and trends. 
    • Experience with Industrial Hygiene policies, programs and regulations. 
    • Ensure all safety requirements, pursuant to Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations, are met at the facility and quarries. 
    • Fulfill all applicable governmental and/or insurance carrier record keeping and reporting requirements relative to health and safety (i.e., accidents, training) and environmental compliance (i.e., monthly water discharge reports, bi-annual air emissions inventories). 
    • Maintain a knowledge base of MSHA, hazard communication, workers compensation law, emergency response, and federal and state environmental requirements. 1,4 
    • Develop and maintain ISO 14000 and ISO 45001 systems. 
    • Maintain our “Social license to Operate” by working with internal and external stakeholders.

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Requires a 4-year degree, preferably in Safety Science or Engineering with 5-10 years professional experience.  Working knowledge in the broad areas of occupational health and safety, and environmental regulation including air, water, land use, and hazardous waste, as well as computer skills.  Excellent communication and authentic leadership skills required. 

    Salary Range - $100k - $125k annually
