The Science Team at Pride Health supporting the Material Sciences Industry that has an opening for Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) in Maplewood, MN

Position Summary:

We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support research and development operations by promoting a safe working environment across laboratories, pilot plants, and related facilities. This individual will partner with technical teams to identify, assess, and mitigate environmental, health, and safety risks while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal safety standards.

Additional Details:

Contract Length: Long-term contract with potential extension (up to 5 years)

Pay range: $28 to $ 38 per hour on W2 (As per experience)

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary EHS contact for assigned R&D laboratories, pilot plants, and remote facilities.

  • Lead environmental, health, and safety risk assessments and coordinate with subject matter experts when additional support is required.

  • Manage hazardous waste activities, including:

  • Updating waste stream profiles for new materials.

  • Coordinating laboratory clean-out events.

  • Providing guidance on hazardous and miscellaneous waste disposal.

  • Conduct exposure assessments and personal protective equipment (PPE) evaluations.

  • Perform routine EHS inspections and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

  • Track EHS activities, action items, approvals, and compliance documentation.

  • Maintain effective communication with EHS team members and cross-functional R&D groups.

  • Share safety updates, best practices, lessons learned, and emerging trends across the organization.

  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programs related to risk assessment, hazard control, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Environmental Health & Safety or a strong demonstrated interest in pursuing an EHS career.
  • Experience working in or supporting an R&D, laboratory, manufacturing, or pilot plant environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn EHS risk assessment methodologies, databases, and safety management tools.
  • Ability to understand technical research and laboratory processes.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hazardous waste management and chemical safety.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other environmental and occupational safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, or safety assessments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating workplace hazards.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.
