Position is contingent upon contract award with an anticipated start date of September 2026.Location: NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC), Edwards, CaliforniaSupport NASA's Occupational Health MissionH&L Environmental Services is seeking an Environmental Health Technician to support NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center's Occupational Health Program.This position supports Environmental Health activities including industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, hearing conservation, health physics, laser safety, ergonomics, workplace evaluations, and occupational exposure monitoring. The successful candidate will work closely with Industrial Hygienists, Health Physicists, Occupational Medicine personnel, engineers, scientists, and operational staff to help identify, evaluate, and control workplace health hazards in support of NASA's aerospace research mission.This position offers a unique opportunity to support a world-class aerospace research environment while contributing to the health and safety of NASA employees, contractors, and mission support personnel.What You Will DoOn any given day, you may be called upon to:· Assist with implementation of Environmental Health and Occupational Health programs.· Conduct workplace exposure monitoring and sampling activities.· Perform personal and area air sampling.· Support noise monitoring and hearing conservation activities.· Assist with Standard Threshold Shift (STS) investigations.· Conduct workplace inspections and hazard assessments.· Support indoor air quality evaluations.· Assist with ergonomic assessments and workstation evaluations.· Support ventilation system evaluations.· Assist with laser safety and radio frequency safety evaluations.· Support radiation surveys and radiological monitoring activities.· Maintain and calibrate industrial hygiene and radiation monitoring equipment.· Collect, organize, and maintain Environmental Health program data.· Support development of exposure assessment reports and program metrics.· Assist with accident investigations and workplace health evaluations.· Support Occupational Health Program audits and self-assessments.· Assist with employee training and awareness activities.· Maintain accurate records in electronic tracking and reporting systems.· Follow all NASA, OSHA, and site-specific health and safety requirements.Minimum Qualifications· Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Public Health, or related field.· Minimum two years of experience supporting occupational health, industrial hygiene, environmental health, radiation safety, laboratory operations, or related programs.· Experience conducting workplace sampling, inspections, or environmental monitoring activities.· Working knowledge of OSHA occupational health requirements.· Experience using industrial hygiene sampling equipment and direct-reading instruments.· Strong written and verbal communication skills.· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic data management systems.· Valid driver's license and ability to obtain access to federal facilities.---Preferred Qualifications· AIHA Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene Course or ability to obtain within three months of hire.· Health Physics Technician Level I (Radiation Associates) or equivalent hands-on radiation instrumentation training, or ability to obtain within three months of hire.· Experience supporting Hearing Conservation Programs.· Experience conducting noise dosimetry and sound level surveys.· Experience supporting radiation protection or health physics programs.· Experience supporting aerospace, aviation, laboratory, research, military, or federal facilities.· Experience supporting occupational medical surveillance programs.· Familiarity with NASA, DoD, DOE, or other federal occupational health programs. Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
