The Environmental Specialist is responsible for performing and supporting environmental, compliance, and operational analytical testing in a laboratory setting. This role requires a strong scientific background, proficiency in analytical laboratory techniques, and a dedication to safety, quality, and operational excellence. The specialist will work with various analytical methods and instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Responsibilities:
Perform environmental, compliance, and operational analytical testing following established laboratory procedures.
Maintain safe working conditions by identifying, reporting, and correcting unsafe practices.
Conduct laboratory analyses using approved methods and instrumentation.
Apply quality control protocols to ensure compliance with testing standards.
Utilize and interpret EPA, ASTM, Standard Methods, and other reference standards.
Follow and develop technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent laboratory analysis.
Evaluate and verify analytical data for accuracy and completeness.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with analytical instrumentation.
Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers effectively.
Manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines.
Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory performance.
Required Skills & Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
Minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry coursework.
Knowledge of EPA, ASTM, Standard Methods, and other analytical reference standards.
Ability to understand and execute technical laboratory procedures and methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork and customer interaction.
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
Experience with analytical reference methods and laboratory instrumentation.
Knowledge of quality control requirements for analytical methods.
Hands-on experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) instrumentation.
Previous experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory setting.
Competencies in technical writing, quality assurance, customer focus, and team collaboration.

Ability to work in a laboratory environment requiring attention to detail and compliance with SOPs.
Responsibility for maintaining accurate and complete laboratory documentation.
Scheduling:
