Environmental Process Engineering is responsible for the process design of all B&W environmental products. The Environmental Process Field Engineer (EPFE) position is a hybrid role consisting of field service engineering and process engineering duties. The EPFE will utilize principles of process engineering, material and energy balances, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as applied to a variety of B&W and competitor products. The EPFE will also perform inspection, commissioning, start-up, and operations/troubleshooting support of new or existing equipment to achieve reliable operations. The EPFE will work with Senior Process Engineers to learn about the equipment and operations, with the goal being to establish a knowledge base so that they can work on their own as a B&W representative in a customers plant.

This position requires extensive travel (> 50%) including driving on customer property. Travel and geographic location will vary depending on the specific customer and project.

  • Apply engineering skills to perform heat and material balances, evaluate unit operations, and assist others to develop process designs for B&Ws broad portfolio of environmental equipment.
  • Collect data, perform standard computations, and gather information to support others on projects.
  • Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and process lists.
  • Interact with customers, account executives, owners engineers, and equipment suppliers.
  • On-site and in-equipment inspection and operational troubleshooting of air pollution control and other environmental equipment.
  • Support performance testing of environmental equipment; Collect and evaluate field data.
  • Become familiar with customers process operation upstream of the environmental equipment.
  • Prepare technical field reports including: Inspection, Testing and Special Reports.
  • Work as part of a team on project commissioning/startup and during outages.
  • Provide construction technical support and outage management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
  • A self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and with others in a team setting.
  • Ability and desire to travel.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
