Quandary Consultants LLC is looking for an Environmental Project Manager to join our growing team of diverse professionals. Quandary is a full-service environmental and regulatory consulting firm based in Denver, Colorado. Founded in 2016 Quandary has quickly become a top choice for clients in the construction, oil & gas, renewable energy, electric utility, and government sectors. We provide environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, air quality, remediation, weed management, stormwater management, and other environmental services to clients throughout the country.
 
This position would work within the Natural Resource group to assist with project management and project deliverables. Main tasks would include assisting with project deliverables and proposals, ensuring projects stay on task and on budget, assisting with staff scheduling, and completing fieldwork as needed. This position will primarily assist with office work, but some field work will be required depending on workload; an estimated 25% of the year will be spent doing field work. Field work may require overnight stays. Quandary is seeking candidates with a Colorado Oil & Gas background, familiar with Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Project management of multiple, simultaneous projects for different clients in different industries in a dynamic work environment
  • The position will assist with natural resource field work and report writing. This includes field surveys for wildlife, vegetation, and wetland assessments as needed.
  • Coordinate scheduling, data transfer, and reporting with other field staff and project managers
  • Create new project scopes, budgets, and designs
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, and safety policies and supporting a culture of workplace safety
  • Independently conduct and lead fieldwork efforts
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff
  • Create educational materials for internal training purposes and lead staff training efforts
  • Consult with federal, state, and local agencies on regulatory issues
  • Business development and management of client relations
  • Create, review, and improve client deliverables, including written reports and maps
  • Independently and collaboratively conduct natural resources and environmental fieldwork in remote and urban locations, including active construction and sites with active operations
  • Collect detailed, accurate scientific field data for multiple wildlife species, vegetation, habitats (migratory birds, eagle nests and roosts, burrowing owls, prairie dogs, etc.), and environmental resources (e.g. groundwater, surface water, soils, wetlands).
  • Collect and manage data using ESRI software, Arc GIS Field Maps (Survey 123), Google Earth, or similar platforms during field work.
  • Expand working knowledge of various environmental disciplines
  • Attend environmental training courses on a variety of topics
  •  Perform additional assignments as assigned
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Positive attitude and collaborative, team-based perspective
  • Demonstrated experience with increasing responsibilities, preferably leading teams in a management role
  • Possess working knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., ESA, NEPA, CWA, MBTA)
  • Self-sufficient, self-motivated, strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure of deadlines
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, work independently, and comply with company policies
  • Ability to work in locations that feature rough terrain and remote locations alone with minimal supervision 
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Subject to client required random drug screening
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Key specialty areas preferred such as Wildlife Biology, Vegetation, Wetlands, etc.
  • Experience with Colorado Oil & Gas and is familiar with Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) regulations. Experience with ECMC Cumulative Impact Analysis a plus.
  • Interpret and manage spatial data using ESRI suite of products, Google Earth, and similar platforms
 
Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
  • 5+ years of increasing fieldwork, project, and personnel management experience
  • 3+ years of experience with project management
  • Experience with a variety of industries such as oil and gas, renewable energy, and transportation.
  • Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged sitting - Much of the position will be sitting at a desk
  • Field work may be necessary and required – dependent on key specialty area and staff needs
  • Fieldwork can require daily travel with extended hours driving to and from client sites
  • Walking long distances over rugged terrain to field locations while carrying necessary equipment and materials
  • Fieldwork can experience inclement weather conditions, such as extremely hot or cold temperatures.
  • Lifting heavy objects, including weight maximums up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive tasks that are physically demanding


Expected Salary: $90,000 - $110,000.00 DOE.
Job Type: Full-time Exempt
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40+ hours a week, daily schedule dictated by client needs
Work Location: Denver, CO: Reliably commute to Denver office daily.
