Job Overview:


APTIM is seeking an energetic Environmental Project Manager to join our team of engineers, scientists, and technicians who are passionately committed to safely solving our clients’ environmental concerns. The qualified candidate will be a hands-on Project Manager, dedicated to completing projects with precision and accuracy. They will participate in the development, planning, oversight, management, and implementation of environmental work generally related to environmental assessment, remediation, and infrastructure projects. This may include environmental and contamination assessments and remediation projects for state and local government, heavy industry, and retail petroleum clients, permitting and compliance assistance to state, local, and private clients. The successful candidate will profitably and safely manage environmental assessment/compliance/remediation projects to client expectations from proposal through execution to invoicing and be able to effectively mentor less experienced staff. The work mix initially is expected to be 75% office and 25% field. Candidate shall be located in APTIM’s Tampa Florida office.


Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


+ Manages environmental projects from proposal development through execution and invoicing, with budgets ranging from $5K to over $400K.

+ Oversees project budgets, schedules, and deliverables while balancing multiple priorities to meet technical, regulatory, and client requirements.

+ Serves as a client liaison, coordinating with client staff, regulatory agencies, vendors, contractors, and internal project teams.

+ Develops and executes project scopes, adapting to changing site conditions while maintaining schedule and budget objectives.

+ Provides technical support across all phases of work, including environmental site characterization, monitoring, permitting, regulatory reporting, construction support, and Phase I and Phase II environmental due diligence.

+ Prepares and reviews technical reports, work plans, permits, and regulatory submittals in accordance with ASTM standards, applicable regulations, and company procedures.

+ Performs Petroleum Storage Tank Closure Assessments in compliance with state, local, and client requirements.

+ Manages and supports projects conducted under EPA Brownfields programs, the Florida Brownfields Redevelopment Act, and local government Brownfield initiatives.

+ Supports Brownfield site assessment, cleanup, and redevelopment planning from site identification through closure, including grant‑funded projects.

+ Coordinates with parties including counties, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

+ Tracks budgets, schedules, and compliance requirements for publicly funded and grant‑funded Brownfield projects.

+ Conducts work independently or as part of a project team, adjusting work priorities to quickly changing site conditions and project schedules

+ Interpretation and evaluation of scientific data.

+ Understands technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, and ensures conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.

+ Manages own schedule and balances multiple priorities to meet project targets and deadlines.

+ Utilizes best practices and knowledge of internal and external business systems to improve products or services as a collaborative member of the APTIM team.

+ Adheres to health and safety policies and contributes to team collaboration and mentorship.


Basic Qualifications:


+ Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Hydrology or other related degree required.

+ 5 - 8 years of experience in the environmental assessment and remediation industry

+ 5 - 8 years of experience in project management and personnel management in the environmental assessment and remediation industry

+ Demonstrated experience managing Brownfields environmental assessment and/or remediation projects for local, state, or federal government clients.

+ Working knowledge of EPA Brownfields Program requirements, reporting expectations, and compliance frameworks.

+ Strong written and oral communication skills are required.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

+ Thorough understanding of Chapters 62-780 and 62-777, Florida Administrative Code, and risk-based closure avenues allowable.

+ Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

+ Strong attention to detail.

+ Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple activities on an on-going basis by given deadline

+ Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle.

+ Completion of 40-hour OSHA-HAZWOPER training and annual refreshers.


Desired/Preferred Qualifications:


+ Experience managing projects for both government and private clients.

+ Experience working in Florida geologic environments.

+ Experience with Chapters 62-780 and 62-777, Florida Administrative Code.

+ Prior experience supporting or managing county or comparable local government Brownfield programs.

+ Familiarity with Florida Brownfields Redevelopment Act (Chapter 376.77, F.S.) and Brownfield-related incentives and redevelopment processes.

+ Experience integrating environmental investigation results into redevelopment or reuse planning for Brownfield sites.

+ Experience coordinating Brownfield projects funded through federal, state, or local grants.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $80K to $130K. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
