Position Summary: Administers Emergency Management and Environmental Safety systems, policies and programs to protect the property, assets, patients, staff and visitors in compliance with with all established requirements, codes, regulations, licensing and accrediting standards by performing the following duties personally. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.

Critical Tasks:

  • Performs regular assessments and reviews of all properties and operations to either reduce or eliminate risks to people and property.
  • Constructively visits and evaluates all structures, patient service areas, operating systems and enterprise methods while providing feedback, reports and guidance to mitigate discovered risks and dangers.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of a variety of emergency, fire, and disaster preparedness drills for all locations.
  • Reports all safety and risk subjects to higher decision makers on a very timely basis to prevent dangerous, expensive and/or traumatic outcomes.
  • Participates productively in State, County, Tribal, and surrounding area healthcare system partner discussions and initiatives with the objective of developing meaningful risk reduction methods for the enterprise.
  • In partnership with our knowledge experts, researches, develops, schedules and provides training on risk and safety subjects.
  • Provides guidance to staff members regarding Life Safety Code and Joint Commission standards and related subjects.
  • Ensures that all safety and risk data entered, retained an/or utilized is accurate and factually founded.
  • Frequently visits and positively impacts all enterprise facilities and locations while remaining focused upon patient service and safety subjects.
  • Works closely and productively with Facilities Management, and Planning, Design, and Construction teams to ensure compliance with all established requirements, codes, regulations, licensing and accrediting standards.
  • Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years related work experience in Emergency Management, Environmental Safety, Hospital Administration, or a closely related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
  • Interest in medical subjects, patient services/care, and customer service.
  • Prior medical environment work experience is preferred.
