Summary
The Safety Director will proactively plan, direct and implement the Company's ESH program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident free work environment; supports field personnel in ensuring each construction project is conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, clients, subcontractors and the general public; ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, county and local safety related regulations; demonstrates strong leadership skills, works well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills and strives to enrich the Company Culture.
They will partner with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Executive Vice Presidents, Senior Operations Leadership, Health and Safety, and SBU staff to build and sustain a positive, proactive safety culture while supporting field operations and ensuring the successful implementation of the Company''s environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
Reports directly to the VP ESH and supports the SBU leadership team.
Understand our Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) and how we manage trade partners through our contractor selection process.
Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
Client facing leader that helps support and implement EHS programs, plan work, and respond to root cause analysis investigations.
Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
Implement organizational learning by sharing lessons learned from near-misses and close calls with staff and leadership to prevent future occurrences within the operating business unit.
Oversees safety staff and provides support to ensure compliance with all aspects of safety
Supports teams to manage hazard assessment activities by 1) conducting and/or supervising safety inspections, and 2) analyzing inspection and incident data to identify opportunities to develop preventive and corrective practices
Leads teams in the effective implementation and execution of critical safety systems, including the Corrective Action Plan, Pre-Mobilization, Weekly Focus Walks, Pre-Task Plan engagement, and the Injury Management Program.
Act as corporate contact for any federal, state, or municipal safety or risk management authority and/or personnel, including, but not limited to OSHA
Lead the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis by reviewing accident and incident reports
Prepares monthly safety reports to present to management, owners, and parent company
Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting
Create, plan, and implement programs to train employees in work site safety practices that align with business expectations
