Summary:  Performs a variety of functions in relation to the cleaning and maintenance of Casino floors; repairs and maintains departmental equipment.

The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Employee(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Shampoos carpeted areas throughout the Casino’s facilities.
  • Steam cleans and/or pressure washes floors.
  • Strips and waxes tile floors.
  • Applies non-slip treatment to flooring.
  • Vacuums and high dusts ceilings and walls.
  • Keeps equipment clean & in good working order.
  • Repairs and maintains equipment for the Environmental Services Department.
  • Hands out and collects departmental vacuum cleaners.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions to Supervisor
  • Monitors supply inventories and submit parts orders.
  • Participates in special projects and/or events as assigned.
  • Perform cleaning attendant duties.

Required Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of floor maintenance.
  • Floor maintenance equipment and cleaning agents.
  • Regulations and standards governing environmental services activities.
  • Safety protocols relative to the handling of cleaning chemicals and bio-hazardous materials.
  • Methods for repairing and maintaining custodial equipment.

Required Skill in:

  • Performing a variety of specialized floor maintenance functions.
  • Ensuring the proper cleaning and maintenance of Casino floors and carpets.
  • Safely handling cleaning chemicals and bio-hazardous materials.
  • Repairing, maintaining, and operating departmental equipment.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

 Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years floor technician experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Low security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • Will be required to pass a pre-employment physical.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in a gaming environment with exposure to tobacco smoke and noise.
  • Work is subject to frequent walking, intermittent standing, bending, reaching, and occasional sitting and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work involves frequent exposure to floor cleaning chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, and general hazards from equipment operation; intermittent exposure to working at heights when using high lift equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.

Equipment and Tools Utilized:

  • Equipment utilized includes floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, steam cleaners, high lifts, power tools, hand tools, two-way radios, and department vehicles.
