What Success Looks Like In This Job

The Custodial / EVS Lead Technician will work directly with the EVS/ Custodial Supervisor to serve as a working lead within the Environmental Services (EVS) and Custodial Division within Facilities and Fleet Management, providing operational leadership, staff coordination, training, and hands-on custodial support for County facilities. This position helps ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained environments across multiple County owned and leased facilities while supporting daily operations, contractor coordination, inventory management, and customer service standards.

The ideal candidate is a dependable lead team member who can provide day-to-day guidance and support while working alongside the team in direct custodial operations. They communicate effectively with staff and vendors, demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, and adapt seamlessly to changing operational needs.This role requires flexibility to work varying shifts, evenings, weekends, and respond to emergencies or operational demands as assigned.

The hiring range for this position is $21.95 -$25.24. The full hiring range for this position is $21.95 - $30.73.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Lead daily custodial and floor care operations for the Government Center and assigned County facilities, including floor scrubbing, maintenance, equipment oversight, and quality assurance.
  • Perform hands-on custodial duties such as restroom sanitation, trash removal, , supply replenishment, window cleaning, and general facility upkeep.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and training to custodial staff on cleaning procedures, floor care techniques, chemical handling, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules, during planned or unplanned absences to maintain uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Works closely with the EVS/ Custodial Supervisor in developing and implementing custodial methods, procedures, and work plans.
  • Coordinates and communicates staff attendance information, scheduling updates, and daily operational needs to support EVS operations and ensure appropriate supervisor awareness.
  • Maintains and updates operational Outlook calendars, including staff absences, deliveries, projects, County events, and department activities to support daily operations and resource planning.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for communication and coordination between EVS staff, County departments, Elected Officials, janitorial and carpet cleaning contractors, and window cleaning providers.
  • Attend meetings and assist leadership with operational planning, scheduling, and departmental support functions; represent the EVS/ Custodial Supervisor when needed.
  • Serve as liaison with custodial supply and chemical vendors, including monthly product evaluations, inventory reviews, tracking spreadsheets, and performance discussions for all County owned and leased facilities.
  • Provide after-hours operational support via phone, email, and text communication during emergencies or supervisor absences.
  • Assist with monitoring and managing budgets related to janitorial contracts, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, custodial supplies, and equipment purchases.
  • Order, track, and distribute custodial supplies and equipment to multiple County facilities.
  • Research and recommend cost-effective products, equipment, and operational solutions that support departmental goals and budgets.
  • Assist with RFP and RFQ processes, including vendor research, documentation preparation, and contractor coordination.
  • Provide basic computer and software support to staff, including assistance with Outlook, Time Entry, and County systems.
  • Identify facility maintenance concerns and coordinate reporting for repairs and corrective action.
  • Promote professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and strong working relationships with employees, contractors, vendors, and County departments.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications for Success

  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of custodial operations, floor care techniques, cleaning chemicals, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service.
  • Experience coordinating schedules, staffing coverage, inventory, and operational priorities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, vendor relations, contractor oversight, and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and respond effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, overtime, and emergency response assignments based on operational needs.

More Qualifications for Success

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of general custodial experience required.

  • Preferred

  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

  • Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Additional specialized training in floor maintenance is desirable.

  • Must have basic computer knowledge

  • License or Certificate: Must have a valid CO Driver license with no restrictions

  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal backgrounds check. Must pass an intensive background process through the Adams County Sheriffs Office to include fingerprinting, an Integrity Interview, and a Computerized Voice Stress Analysis Exam (CVSA). Background check will also include a Motor Vehicle check.
