Position Overview

The Supervisor, Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services department during assigned shifts. This leader ensures patient care areas, support spaces, and operational departments are maintained in a safe, sanitary, and compliant condition while driving team performance, service excellence, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Environmental Services staff across assigned hospital areas.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and operational readiness.
  • Oversee timekeeping, attendance, productivity, and labor utilization.
  • Conduct daily rounds to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance standards are met.
  • Coach, mentor, and support team members through performance management and development activities.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and competency validation programs.
  • Drive service recovery efforts and resolve operational concerns in a timely, professional manner.
  • Coordinate effectively with clinical and non-clinical departments to support organizational goals.
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee supply management to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and departmental policies.
  • Identify workflow gaps and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
  • Track operational metrics, prepare reports, and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Support emergency response activities and provide hands-on operational assistance during peak periods.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Experience leading Environmental Services operations, workflows, staffing, and departmental support functions.
  • Demonstrated success supervising employees, setting expectations, coaching performance, and maintaining accountability.
  • Experience creating schedules and managing staffing needs in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, accreditation, and departmental requirements related to Environmental Services.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Experience managing supplies, records, productivity, labor utilization, and daily operational priorities.
  • Proficiency with standard business software and operational systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Environmental Services teams within a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Experience with terminal cleaning procedures in OR, GI, Cath Lab, or procedural areas.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodologies, continuous improvement, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience assisting with budgets, expense monitoring, and corrective action planning.
  • Experience facilitating staff meetings, training programs, and orientation activities.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend operational improvements.

This is a Contract position based out of Modesto, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
