The person employed in this capacity will perform his/her duties under the direction of the Director of Health and Sanitation. To perform duties associated with assisting the Health and Sanitation department and other related duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Communicate effectively, courteously, and clearly in English with the public and other city employees by telephone, in person, or in writing.
Competently perform under stress when confronted with priority situations and distractions.
Comprehend and perform applicable departmental orders.
Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of self or others.
Operate related tools, equipment, telephone, car or truck, required to perform job- related tasks.
Manipulate and lift equipment and material up to 50 lbs.
Perform a variety of tasks, often changing quickly from one task to another without the loss of efficiency and composure.
Pick up dead animals within the City.
Assist in the downtown and city park garbage routes.
Take waste to landfill and dump.
Secure an area with a key by locking and unlocking doorways and gates.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS / REQUIRE QUALIFICATION
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors and the public.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
