The Environmental Services Technician I facilitates to the highest degree of cleanliness, sanitation, safety, orderliness, and attractiveness as possible, they will to provide sacred trust and improve the healing process of our patients by eliminating cross contamination, in accordance with established procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Can demonstrate effective use of computers and/or mobile devices for daily job performance activities

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to read/write English at 6th- 9th grade level preferred
Health care support services and/or environmental services, hospitality or related field preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment as assigned and other common areas of assignment.
Perform duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the health care environment for which tasked with servicing.
Adheres to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives; including but not limited to, initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment by properly stocking and restocking environmental services cart in a neat and orderly fashion.
Remove waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e., regulated medical, recycling, solid, and hazardous).
Follows all infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (i.e., HIPAA).
Practices critical thinking skills.
Demonstrates personal accountability.
Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements.
Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
May be asked to perform specialty tasks according to facility needs including tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
May be asked to assist with on-boarding of new Level I technicians
Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:
Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
Other duties as assigned
Report all injuries to your supervisor and submit a Quantro’s report (immediately following injury)
Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
Constant standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving when performing job functions
Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and maneuver items weighing much more with proper technique & equipment
Works in assigned areas of the facility according to a schedule
Subject to frequent interruptions
Willingness to work beyond normal working hours & schedule when necessary
Attend and participate in continuing education programs
Works with various soaps, bleach, and disinfecting / cleaning solutions
Works with powered equipment such as vacuums, buffers, floor machines
May be exposed to Infectious Diseases, Blood and Body substances, Contaminated Articles, Morgue and the Deceased
Verbally communicates with Nursing Personnel, Patients and Other Hospital Personnel
Required to wear masks, gowns, gloves, shoe covers and all Personal Protective Equipment required for completing job
