Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a degreed and experienced Environmental Specialist to fill a hybrid contract position in Atlanta, Georgia. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-7 Years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission certification as an inspector, design professional, or plan reviewer.
  • Pre-testing will be required for selected candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for overseeing environmental permitting and compliance, for water programs.
  • You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, minimize environmental impacts, and drive sustainable practices.
  • This position requires working knowledge of construction stormwater Best Management Practices and erosion and sedimentation controls.
  • Environmental Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, specifically water quality, stormwater, and erosion and sedimentation controls.
  • Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
EXPERIENCE
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience with the federal Clean Water Act, the Georgia Water Quality Act, Georgia’s NPDES Storm Water Discharge General Permits and the Georgia Erosion & Sedimentation Act.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders.

WORK LOCATION 
  • Position is located in Atlanta, GA.
  • Position requires being in the office or on a company site Monday through Thursday.
  • Opportunity to work remotely on Fridays.
  • Position is typically 10-25% travel but can be higher on occasions.
  • The successful candidate must provide their own steel toe shoes. JSG will provide all other PPE. 

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
