We are seeking applicants for an Environmental Specialist in our International Falls, Minnesota Paper Mill. The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.

Job Information:

Key priorities may include NPDES and Title V Air Permit Management, Ash Land Application Program, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, Above Ground Storage (AST) Tank Permit, Accident/Incident Investigations, Environmental Training, Risk Management Plan (RMP) Management, agency reporting and interface, and overall environmental compliance management.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with mill operations as they relate to environmental principals.
  • The position will develop, implement, and maintain systems to ensure compliance with Facility, Corporate, Local, State, and Federal requirements of the facilities air, waste, and water programs.
  • Responsible for permitting plans for environmental programs.
  • Lead the environmental review process surrounding capital projects.
  • Assistance with multimedia environmental projects as needed within the department.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, as needed, on compliance and/or enforcement issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be organized and able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to function and contribute within a team environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a valid and current drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the Environmental Field.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting salary range for position: $85,000 to $125,000.
  • Paid Vacation.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision - and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
