Environmental Technician
MPS Group Inc. is seeking multiple Environmental Technicians to join our team at the GM Fort Wayne Plant located in Fort Wayne, IN. These individuals will be responsible for handling of solid and recyclable wastes.
Shift Details:
- Shift: 1st/3rd
- Schedule: 1st shift Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 3rd shift Thursday - Sunday 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
- Separate line side recyclables per standards set by the Lead Resource Manager.
- Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal and other waste streams throughout the plant and transports to disposal container or storage room.
- Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to recycling centers and any other disposal site.
- Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in plant's recycling and waste containers.
- Maintain necessary documentation of waste/recycling inventories, inspections and other activities as required.
- Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks, etc.
- Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
- Responsible for additional duties assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience handling/disposing of plastic and recycling.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
- Qualifications include the ability to read and understand basic equipment operating instructions, safe work protocols and adhere to the personal protection requirements of the assigned job.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year in an industrial, manufacturing setting or waste management setting.
- Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will be provided upon hire.
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER will be provided upon hire.
- Current Fork Truck Operator Training (desired); will be provided upon hire.
