Position Summary The Environmental Technician I is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healing healthcare environment through daily cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitation practices. This position supports patient throughput by ensuring timely room turnover and adherence to infection prevention standards while delivering outstanding customer service. Position Details Schedule: Per Diem (As Needed) Department: Environmental Services Shift Flexibility Required Key Responsibilities Cleaning & Disinfection Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, public areas, hallways, medication rooms, and other assigned areas. Complete patient discharge and admission room cleaning according to approved procedures. Operate UV disinfection equipment when needed. Maintain cleanliness standards that support patient safety and infection prevention. Patient & Customer Support Respond professionally to customer questions and concerns. Contribute to a positive patient and visitor experience through excellent service and communication. Demonstrate respect for patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA). Inventory & Supply Management Replenish supplies as needed. Remove biohazard waste, trash, and soiled linen. Change privacy curtains as required. Safety & Infection Prevention Follow infection control practices, including: Hand hygiene Standard and isolation precautions Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Follow all safety, risk management, and infection prevention guidelines. Report safety concerns and submit maintenance requests as needed. Technology & Equipment Utilize department technology systems, including bed management systems. Use mobile devices and computers for daily job functions. Safely operate and maintain EVS equipment and tools. Set up and dismantle beds for cleaning according to department procedures. Teamwork & Continuous Improvement Participate in departmental initiatives focused on cleanliness and customer experience. Communicate effectively with team members and leadership. Respectfully collaborate with coworkers and support a positive work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Ability to: Read, write, and communicate effectively in English Work independently and as part of a team Learn healthcare cleaning and disinfection procedures Use computers and mobile devices for daily tasks Experience No experience required OR Less than 3 years of experience in: Environmental Services Hospitality Healthcare Support Services Housekeeping Custodial Services Related fields What Makes You Successful?
